Hamar Croft

Our story

A few acres, worked properly

A grassy path winding through birch woodland on the croft

Hamar Croft is a small working croft in Glenmoriston, by Loch Ness. Crofting has always meant the same thing here: a modest patch of land, worked hard, by the people who live on it. We're carrying that on.

This is year one. The hens arrived in spring and are settling into the orchard. Two beehives sit at the edge of the heather moor. The market garden is dug, the polytunnel is up, and the first season of vegetables is in the ground.

Nothing is for sale yet — deliberately. A first season is for building soil, learning the wind, and doing things right rather than fast. The first eggs, honey and veg boxes go on sale in spring 2027, in small batches, to the mailing list first.

When the gate opens, the deal is simple: everything we sell was grown or raised here, picked or collected the same week, and sold to people close enough to come and see for themselves. No middlemen, no plastic-wrapped anonymity, no food miles worth counting.
