A working croft · Glenmoriston

Grown on the croft.
Sold at the gate.

Seasonal vegetables, free-range eggs and raw honey from a few acres by Loch Ness.

Why a croft

Food that travelled metres, not miles. Picked the morning you collect it, from land you can stand on and animals you can meet.

At the gate

The honesty box

The oldest way to sell food, and still the best. A shelf at the gate with the morning's eggs, the week's veg and a few jars of honey — take what you need and leave the money in the tin. No till, no queue, no wrapping.

It opens with the first harvest. If the shelf is empty, the hens are having a think — the online shop will always show what's left.

Our story

Year one of a working croft

We took on a few acres of Glenmoriston, by Loch Ness, and a plan: raise hens, keep bees, grow vegetables — and sell all of it within sight of where it grew. This year is about soil, fences and learning. Next year, the gate opens.
